WEST MERCIA AREAOF MEMBER SOCIETIES OF NADFAS |
Church Recorders are NADFAS volunteers who make records of the contents of our national churches, thereby promoting the recognition and preservation of the rich artistic heritage to be found in places of worship of all religions. They record memorials, metalwork, stonework, woodwork, textiles, paintings, library, windows and miscellaneous items. The items are described in detail and their history researched. All the material is then compiled into a book illustrated with photographs and drawings. This is presented to the church and copies are sent to national institutions to form part of a heritage archive. For Church Recording purposes, the West Mercia Area is divided into North and South, each with an Area Representative. An ongoing programme of training is organised at national and local levels. Workshops are arranged with invited experts lecturing on specialised subjects. The most recent topics being woodwork and metalwork. If you are interested in joining a Church Recording Group contact an Area Representative or your Society Chairman. |
